We are a fetal toxicology lab within the UNC School of Medicine.
Our lab’s overarching goal is to understand how various drugs, such as alcohol and cannabinoids, disrupt early embryonic development and cause significant birth defects involving both the brain and face. We aim to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie drug-induced birth defects, as well as identify genetic programs that confer susceptibility or resilience to drug insult.
